Database Description
The Mouse Gene Expression Database (GXD) is a community resource of gene expression information from the laboratory mouse. By collecting and integrating different types of expression data, GXD provides information about expression profiles of transcripts and proteins in different mouse strains and mutants. Data are acquired from the literature by curation staff and via electronic submission from laboratories. New expression data are made available on a daily basis. GXD is integrated with the Mouse Genome Database (MGD) to enable a combined analysis of genotype, expression, and phenotype data. Participation in the Gene Ontology project provides standardized search terms to query for genes involved with specific molecular functions, biological processes and cellular components. Extensive and continuously refined query capabilities and interconnections with sequence databases and with databases from other species place the gene expression information in the larger biological and analytical context. GXD is accessible through the Mouse Genome Informatics web site at http://www.informatics.jax.org/ or directly at http://www.informatics.jax.org/menus/expression_menu.shtml.
